Review

This regarded, all-women staffed cocktail bar draws its name from its location, on the grand floor of the Casa de las Brujas (House of the Witches), in turn so named due to its peaked roof being shaped like a witch's hat. Brujas is a cauldron of creativity with the cocktails produced there noted for harnessing Mexico's abundant botanicals.

Built in 1908 and listed as one of the "five must-see buildings in Mexico City", Casa de las Brujas stands out from the Art Nouveau properties that surround it. Not only does the gabled roof resemble a witch's hat but windows give the illusion of eyes. This has helped give rise to the local legend that a shaman named Pachita lived in the house and that she was visited by celebrities and politicians. Now it's a very different kind of potion that attracts cocktail connoisseurs from all around the world to what is a legendary bar at the foot of an equally stand-out building.
