Tess Posthumus and Timo Janse, co-owners of Flying Dutchmen Cocktails, open their next venture in the Zeedijk neighbourhood in Amsterdam.

Dutch Courage celebrates old-Dutch liqueurs and offers 150 different genevers from The Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium. Guests can opt for a genever tasting flight or from the menu of genever-based cocktails.

"We want to offer a good balance between a high-quality cocktail bar on the one hand and the cozy, 'gezellige' and accessible ambience of the traditional local pub on the other. We therefore do not take reservations," says co-owner Timo Janse.

The bar offers cooled 'kopstootjes-automatiek' - Tess Posthumus' very own concept - a vending machine serving miniature clay genever jugs, paired with a bottle of beer.

Tess says, "It is just super fun to pull something out of the wall. Nostalgic for the Dutch and a special experience for the tourist. And also nice and covid-proof!"

The traditional genever and beer serve, kopstootje is also available at the bar, as well as local spirits including Dutch gin and rum.
