Long-term friends and Edinburgh bar industry veterans, Kyle Jamieson and Iain McPherson teamed up to add a touch of cocktail culture into Leith's former Parlour pub in 2018. They may have taken this boozer stratospherically upmarket and into the higher echelons of the world's best bars, but they have retained the old pub's soul and, importantly, draught beer.

Leith is a port and historically an important one so in a setting so connected with shipping the name Nauticus, Latin for Nautical, is an appropriate one. The name and this old pub's location have also influenced the interior with reminders such as a brass diver's helmet and ship's life ring. This continues to the drinks menu which portrays the story of Leith from 1128 through to 2018 and the opening of this bar, with key periods along the way being the inspiration for signature cocktails.

Nauticus is also a proudly Scottish bar with 90% of its products either Scottish or with strong Scottish links.
